The culprits in Durgapur gangrape case will receive strict punishment: Babul supriyo

Kolkata, October 11 (IANS). A heart-sharp incident of gang rape from a second-year student from a private medical college came to light in Durgapur of the Paschim Bardhaman district in West Bengal. This matter created a sensation in the entire state and raised questions about law and order. State government Minister Babul Supriyo immediately responded to the incident, saying that the heavy police force had been deployed in the area. He assured that the culprits would receive the most stringent punishment. Supriyo said: “Whoever is convicted of this horrific crime will receive strict punishment, as was the case in recent cases. There will be more strict action in the coming days.” At the same time, Opposition Party leader Sucvendu Adhikari made a stunned attack on the Mamata Banerjee government on this incident. He said: “No daughter or sister is safe in the Western Bengals. The incidents of rape in recent times testify to this.” Suvendu Adhikari made serious allegations against the police, saying that the police’s task is now limited to bribes, gathering votes for the Trinamol congress and registering false cases against BJP workers. He accused Mamata Banerjee of doing politics and being protected from rapists. Suvendu Adhikari, who supports the Statement Minister of Home Affairs, AMIT Shah’s statement on illegal infiltration, said the demographic change is taking place due to illegal infiltration. He claimed that only three districts of Bengal had a high Muslim population, but that this number has now reached nine districts.
