India is not going to make trade deals according to the wishes of other countries. Remove Ads Just Read News Speaking at an event in Germany, Goyal said that trade deals are a matter of mutual trust and trade deals are made keeping in mind long-term partnerships. He said that we are also negotiating a trade agreement with the European Union. We are also in talks with America about a trade agreement, but we are not making an agreement at any set time or with firearms. ‘There is no impediment in talks with America’ On the other hand, highly placed sources in the Ministry of Commerce say that India is very close to a trade agreement with America. Most of the issues that stand in the way of a trade agreement between the two countries have been resolved. Now there are just a few more problems to be solved. Sources say that the negotiations on the trade agreement between the two countries are going very smoothly and no new obstacles are coming up during the talks. All issues are covered during the talks. Five phases of talks took place between the two countries on the trade agreement. Both countries aimed to complete the first phase of the bilateral trade agreement (BTA) in November. After taking office, US President Donald Trump announced that he will sign BTA with India and after that talks between the two countries started. Considering the progress of negotiations, the first phase of BTA is expected to be fully completed in November. Discussions also took place between the two countries regarding investment. India has assured to buy more oil from America and talks have also taken place between the two countries regarding investment. There were also talks between the two countries about bringing in agricultural products such as maize and soya beans in a different form to India. After these problems are resolved, there will be no problem in reaching a compromise. Currently, America has imposed a 50 percent tax on India and after this duty came into force at the end of August, Indian exports to the US market started to decline. Considering India’s growing role in the global supply chain and India’s large market, America also wants to reach an agreement with India soon. This also appears to be the case from Trump’s statement regarding his recent conversation with the Indian Prime Minister.
