Guwahati, June 1 (IANS). The flood situation in the northeastern states remains serious. This increased the death toll in six states to 34. An official gave this information on Sunday. Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah, with the chief ministers of Assam (Himanta Biswa Sarma), Arunachal Pradesh (Pema Khandu) and Sikkim (Prem Singh Tamang) and the Governor of Manipur on telephone (Ajay Kumar Bhalla)) and asked about the flood situation. The Minister of Home Affairs also secured the states that influenced the flood of the central government. In a position on social media platform X, the Minister of Home Affairs said: “The chief ministers of Assam, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur Governor spoke with a view to the heavy rain in their states. He also assured them of all possible help to deal with any situation. According to officials from various northeastern states, at least ten people in Assam in 34 deaths died during the rain and floods from May 29, followed by nine in Arunachal Pradesh, six in Meghalaya and Mizoram, six in Mizoram, two in Tripura and one in Nagaland. Disaster management officials from the northeastern states said these deaths occurred as a result of drowning, landslides and weakening. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, more than 3.64 Lakh people were affected by flooding and rain in 19 districts. The report said that more than 3,524,38 hectares of crop land were affected in 764 towns of 19 districts. More than 10,600 floods affected people from 2,800 families in Tripura, resorting to 60 of the eight districts – 60 relief camps in Western Tripura, Khowai, Unakoti and North Tripura. The floods caused by heavy rains in Manipur caused a havoc. In the past 48 hours, 3.802 people have been affected and 883 houses have been damaged due to floods and landslides across the state.
