Jakarta -Special staff at the Governor of DKI Jakarta for Town Planning expert, Nirwono Yoga, explained the plan to build a ‘donut’ bridge in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta. Nirwono said the plan is still awaiting the results of a study of Japan’s urban Renaissance Agency (UR). In his explanation, Nirwono said that the study is the basis for determining the form, financing and feasibility of project construction, which would later become a symbol of the capital’s transportation connection. “At least one thing to notice is that the construction of the donut bridge is still being studied,” Nirwono said after holding a special meeting with Governor of Dki Jakarta, Pramono Anung, regarding the Dukuh Atas Tod in the Jakarta City Hall (13/10/2025). Browse to continue with the content, it is not certain that the shape of the bridge will be perfectly round like designs circulating in public or other forms. This, says Nirwono, will be adapted to conditions on the land and the layout of transport methods in the Dukuh Atas area. “So the form has not yet been corrected, yes. It is ideal, yes, but whatever it looks, depends on the circumstances in the field,” he said. On the other hand, he explained that the results of the study from Japan would only be completed within a year. Apart from the design aspect, financing is the main focus of the study because it takes into account the effectiveness of the budget. “Especially now the budget efficiency and economic conditions also have special considerations,” he said. It is estimated that the new construction process can start in 2026 and that it was completed in 2027 as a gift for the 5th century of the city of Jakarta. “No later than 2026 it can be groundbreaking, and it has been targeted that by the end of 2027 it can be inaugurated as a birthday present for Jakarta,” he said. As far as the budget is concerned, Nirwono emphasized that there are no exact figures yet because the detailed engineering design (DED) is not completed. “The budget has not been corrected. The design is not yet available. Later it will be adjusted so that the architecture is good, structurally strong and remaining effective,” he added. It is known that a bridge with a circular design such as a dughnut in the Dukuh Atas area, Central -Jakarta, will be built to connect a number of public transport modes. Residents also support the plan. One of the residents, Reza, 31, admitted to hearing from the plan. He admitted to being curious about the results. “That’s why I haven’t seen it yet, I’m just curious. It means it’s turned, yes, if there’s an expert on the design. I want to try it when it’s done. I want to see what it looks like,” Reza said when he met in the Dukuh Atas area, Jakarta, Sunday (12/10). The man of Bekasi hopes the bridge will be made comfortable for pedestrians. He said the bridge should make it easier for people to move from one way of transport to another. “If possible, make it as comfortable as possible, not true? What is it, perhaps the place, if there is a better connection, support to take pictures of all kinds. Yes, if it is good, then it is centralized, so we will all be comfortable, like the LRT that goes to the MRT, you do not have to go through the station (KRL Sudirman),” he said. Another resident, Rizki, 26, also supports the plan to build the bridge. He hopes that the bridge can connect many transport in the Dukuh Atas area. “That looks good. Okay, well, if everything is connected to each other,” Rizki said. (Bell/RFS)
