The former head of West Jakarta, Iwan Ginting, was also removed due to allegations of embezzlement
Jakarta – Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has removed the head of the security sub-directorate of regional infrastructure development and other strategic sectors at the security directorate of strategic development Jamintel at the office of the attorney general, Iwan Ginting. The removal was allegedly related to the embezzlement of money from evidence in the Fahrenheit trading robot investment fraud case. Previously, the attorney general also removed Hendri Antoro from the post of head of the West Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kajari Jakbar). Iwan was the Kajari of West Jakarta before Hendri Antoro. “Yes, there was (the removal of Iwan Ginting). The case started before Pak Hendi started,” the head of the Attorney General’s Penkum, Anang Supriatna, told journalists at the AGO Complex, South Jakarta, on Friday (17/10/2025). SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT The removal of both is believed to be related to the alleged corruption case involving money transfers as evidence in the case of fraudulent investment in the Fahrenheit trading robot. This case has entangled the former prosecutor who handled the case, namely Azam Akhmad Akhsya. The indictment names Hendri Antoro and Iwan Ginting, each of whom is said to have received a cash flow of IDR 500 million. However, Anang said that Azam did not admit this during the trial. “And in the trial the facts were not disclosed. Azam did not admit that he himself enjoyed it,” Anang said. Anang explained that the removal was because it was felt that there was negligence on the part of both of them in carrying out their supervisory functions as Azam’s superiors. “Well, mistakes were made there. What is clear is that the Attorney General took direct action against those involved in such an incident. He was removed from his position,” Anang explains. “Since there is surveillance attached to prosecutor Azam, why did this happen, or how? It is related to his position. Take action quickly, we will remove him first. Because if the surveillance was ongoing, it would not have happened like this,” he explained. When asked if the two of them appealed against the ethical sanctions, Anang admitted that he did not know about this. He said this matter was handled by the deputy attorney general for supervision. “Please, it is his right to impose a sentence. It (the sentence) is very heavy,” Anang added. Meanwhile, Azam was sentenced to 9 years in prison for allegedly abusing his authority as a prosecutor resulting in losses for victims of fraudulent investment in the Fahrenheit trading robot. Apart from corporal punishment, Azam was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 5 months imprisonment. The panel of judges also awarded compensation payments of Rp. 11.7 billion, subsidiary up to 5 years in prison. (ond/idn)
