The Chhattisgarh government has officially implemented Naxalite surrender and the Naxalite rehabilitation policy for areas affected by Naxalite violence. According to officials, this policy was made to provide rehabilitation and relief from persons and families of Naxalite as well as Naxalites. According to the notice issued by the domestic department on March 28, 2025, special committees will be established under the chairmanship of the district collector in each district to ensure the effective implementation of the policy. The police superintendent will serve as the secretary of these committees, including the forest division officer, CEO of the Panchayat district, two other officers nominated by the collector and representatives of the armed forces. In addition, a nodal officer will be appointed at the district and sub-district level to oversee rehabilitation efforts. Officials further said that the Department of Home Affairs ordered that all cases of the victims be identified, as the formation of the state and the choice of Naxalites to be given for rehabilitation and relief should take precedence. The unique identity for the victims and the Naxalites who surrender is developed under this policy to enter a special portal to introduce details of all the victims and Naxalites surrendering to give them a unique identity. The officials involved will regularly monitor the portal dashboard to ensure relief and proper implementation of rehabilitation activities. The Department of Home Affairs has also instructed the district collectors to ensure that they must fulfill the relief and rehabilitation measures within the particular time limit, according to the guidelines mentioned in the policy. The state government is ready to communicate with the Naxalites, but the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Sharma, has reiterated that the state government is ready to talk to the Naxalites. He made it clear that the government will not form a committee for discussions, but if the Naxalites form their committee, it will be involved in the conversation. Sharma also emphasized that Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah called on the Naxalites to give up violence and join the mainstream. He said that if Naxalite leaves violence, they will be welcome, but if they continue with their armed activities, security forces will be forced to retaliate. Share this story -tags
