Tens of thousands participate in an anti -immigration march in London – DW – 2025/9/13 – ryan
Tens of thousands of people gathered in London for a march organized by the British right -wing and anti -Islam anti -Islam activist, Tommy Robinson.
The police said that the march “united the kingdom” called for by Robinson, in which about 110,000 participated, noting that a counter -protest organized by the “faced racism” movement in a place nearly five thousand participated.
The London Police said that they had to interfere on more than one occasion to prevent the participants in the “unity of the kingdom” march from reaching “secure” areas separating the two paths, penetrating security barriers, or reaching the corresponding groups. The police added in a statement that a number of its members were attacked, noting that they had deployed other forces equipped with protective equipment with support from the cavity teams.
Criticism of the British government
The protesters carried the flag of Britain and the flag of England, while others raised the American and Israeli flags and wore the hats of US President Donald Trump, which bears the slogan “Let’s make America great again.” They chanted slogans criticizing Prime Minister Kiir Starmer and waved banners that were written on some of them the phrase “returning them to their country”, in reference to the irregular migrants, while some of the participants accompanied their children.
Robinson described the march “united the kingdom” as a marine celebration. Activists Charlie Kerk, the conservative American activist who was shot on Wednesday. “Hundreds of thousands fill the streets in central London, uniting for our freedoms,” Robinson said in a post on the X platform. “We want to restore our country … we want to restore freedom of expression,” said Sandra Mitchell, one of the participants in the march. “They must stop illegal immigration to this country … We believe in Tommy,” she added.
Political violence in the United States of America
Robinson, known for his anti -immigration and Islam stances several times, were convicted of disturbing public order. In 2018, he was imprisoned on charges of contempt for the court, and then was imprisoned again in the year 2024 for his repetitions of definition statements against a refugee.
A great spread of the police
Before the demonstration, the London Police announced that they would deploy more than 1,600 security forces throughout the capital, including 500 will be brought in from other forces, due to the presence of matches and other events in addition to the two marches. “We will deal with it as we deal with any other protests, as we will work without fear or favoritism, to ensure that people can exercise their legal rights, but we will be firm in dealing with accidents or violations if they occur,” said Claire Heinz, who leads the police operation.
Heinz added that the police are aware of the existence of a “habitor of Muslims and degrading chants by a limited group” in previous protests, but made it clear that London residents should not feel that they have to commit home.
Exactly a week ago, nearly 900 people were arrested in a demonstration in London in protest against the ban of the “Palestine Action” group. Immigration has become the dominant political issue in Britain and overwhelmed concerns about the faltering economy, as the country faces a record number of asylum requests and the arrival of migrants in small boats through the English channel, including more than 28,000 migrants this year.
