The introduction of KPN 2045, Ahy emphasized the 5 Future Foundation of the City

Jakarta – The government today launched the 2045 National Urban Policy (KPN) at the National Development Planning Agency’s (Bappenas) office. This document becomes a new roadmap to build cities in Indonesia to be more advanced, prosperous, fair and sustainable. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the coordinating minister of infrastructure and regional development, has transferred the success of urban development, was not only determined by plans on paper, but also by concrete actions in the field. “I want us all to be an inseparable unit so that all designs, the roadmap we look at together can really be executed. Planning is everything without planning, can be messy,” Ahy said Monday (5/19/2025) in a written statement. Browse to continue the content, he emphasizes urban development with a large dilemma ranging from speed, cost and quality. With budget constraints, Ahy said the central and regional governments should be smart to choose priorities so that development is not only fast but also quality and environmentally friendly. “If we want to be cheap but also want to be awake, it must be slow. We want to follow ten years of significant growth. This is where the trilemma is present, and that’s where the role of urban plans and regional heads is. We really have to offer the right policy,” he explained. Ahy also emphasized the classic problems of major cities such as traffic jams, air pollution, landline reduction, clean water crisis, to the garbage in the garbage. According to him, all these challenges must be answered with innovation and the use of technology, ranging from public transport to renewable energy. “We understand that the city is not only a physical space, but also a pillar of people’s lives. Everything is going on in this city. Jakarta, for example, also other major cities in Indonesia. Economics, politics, social, cultural and innovation comes here. From my experience as an army, I also emphasize that major cities become the center of the defense and safety sector. In the vision of KPN 2045, Ahy underlined the five most important foundations to build a future city, namely green infrastructure and disaster resistant, fair basic service access, inclusive economic growth, clean and customizable management and innovative financing schemes. “We need to continue to build this collaboration. I think the cross -sectoral approach is best to achieve sustainable urban development. Again, together we can realize an increasingly advanced, prosperous, righteous and sustainable city,” Ahy said. However, he emphasized that KPN 2045 could only succeed if it was carried out to international partners with close collaboration between the ministries, local governments, the business world. “We are currently working on five technical ministries. Many infrastructure tasks cannot be completed ourselves. Therefore, we must continue to build a transverse sector cooperation, so that the 2045 KPN is truly a guide to performing urban development in Indonesia,” he concluded. For information, KPN 2045 was born out of the need to manage more and faster urbanization. Since 2010, the majority of the population of Indonesia has been living in urban areas. In 2045, the number is estimated at 72.9 percent. Unfortunately, an increase in 1 percent of the urbanization so far could only increase GDP per capita by 1.4 percent still low. Therefore, a more intelligent and sustainable city development strategy is considered very urgent.
