The largest defense agreement signed between India and Britain will be cooperation available from Maritime Security Center to electrical drive.

India and the UK will jointly set up a regional center of Maritime Excellence (RMSCE) under the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI). This center will strengthen maritime security. IPOI is an Indian initiative to improve collaboration in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific. RMSCE will focus on training, notice and technical development. This announcement was made during the visit of the British Prime Minister in India on October 8-9, 2025. In a joint statement, the two countries said the center would help to tackle regional challenges such as piracy, illegal fishing and disaster management. IPOI was also agreed upon during Premier Modi’s visit to the UK in July 2025. IGA: Electric drive for Navy Ships India and the UK has signed an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) to develop marine electrical drive systems for Indian naval platforms (such as ships and submarines). Electric drive will make ships faster, quieter and fuel efficient. This agreement will be an agreement between the two countries. British businesses such as Rolls-Royce will participate in co-design and co-production. An intent letter was signed in May 2025. In February 2025, electrical systems for the next generation of landing platform ships were discussed. It will modernize India’s fleet and establish a strong position in the Indian Ocean. In general, it is part of a $ 800 million project. LMM Missile Agreement: 35 Crore Pound Gift to the Indian Army Britain will provide a lightweight multirole capacial (LMM) system to India. It is an agreement worth 35 pounds (about Rs 41.553 crore). The LMM, also known as the Martlet, is produced by Thales Air Defense. It is a light rocket that can have air-to-surface, air-to-air, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface attacks. The Indian army will receive these air defense missiles and launchers. The agreement saves more than 700 posts in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom. The agreement was announced on October 9, 2025. The LMM is fast, accurate and versatile, capable of shooting drones, helicopters and small aircraft. This will provide the Indian army with a strong air defense system to its boundaries. Benefits for India: Stronger defense and partnership These agreements will revive India-UK defense relationships. RMSCE will strengthen maritime security. IGA will modernize the fleet.
