The life of farmers is fragrant with the smell of roses in Kannaauj, income has increased using the government

KANNAUJ, OCTOBER 14 (IANS). Farmers in Kannaauj, Uttar Pradesh, are now moving away from traditional crops to rose cultivation. This initiative, which began in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the Government of India, not only increased farmers’ revenue, but also gave new energy to the famous perfume industry of Kannaauj. The soil and climate of Kannaauj, known as the ‘perfume capital’ of India, is considered very favorable for the cultivation of roses. This is why a large number of farmers have now begun to grow flowers such as roses and ficus instead of traditional crops such as wheat and paddy. These flowers are used in the production of perfumes, attars and other flavoring products. Farmers here say that rose cultivation earns more income than traditional farming. Kannauj farmer, Rahul Kushwaha, told Ians in an exclusive interview: “We have been growing roses for some time. Earlier, revenue from traditional crops has limited, but rose cultivation has almost doubled our income. He said that farmers with the help of the central government receive advance financial aid, which can easily cover the cost of seeds, irrigation and maintenance. It provides stability and economic safety to the farmers in farming. According to the locals, although the revenue of farmers has increased due to rose cultivation, the local perfume industry is also constantly available. It not only created new jobs, but also strengthened the traditional aromatic identity of Kannaauj. —Is Ash/BC share this story Tags
