More precisely, the improvement of the travel or ride system. So in the future, the number of KRL trips (trips) will increase,” Head of the Banten Province Transport Service, Tri Nurtopo, said on Monday (20/10/2025). With the signal improvement, the journey can be around four minutes. “Now the busiest time is once every 10 minutes. In the future, it is planned that it will be every four to five minutes. If it is four or five minutes, the number of trips will automatically be much higher,” he said. The Banten Province Transport Agency coordinated with the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). The signal improvement project will begin in 2026. “The information was, from next year the project will start. So the stages are to first build the signal infrastructure, then the system will be fully operational. This means that the project will start running in 2026,” said Tri. Meanwhile, regarding electrification from Rangkasbitung station to Merak station, the Banten Provincial Government has stated that it will conduct a study. According to Tri, the electrification project from Rangkasbitung to Merak is not included in the RPJMN. “In the RPJMN it is mentioned as a double track, but it does not include electrification. That is why we have been asked to carry out a study only in 2026 as a basis for subsequent implementation,” he said. (aik/azh)
