CBI attacks on the locations of IRS officer, gold and silver worth crores and one crore cash recovered
New -delhi, June 2 (IANS). In connection with the continued investigation into a serious bribery case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has inundated several places after the arrest of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official and a private person in Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab. During this time, the CBI received about 3.5 kg of gold, two kg of silver and cash worth about one crore calls. The IRS official of 2007, arrested, currently serves as additional director -general in the Directorate of Taxpayer Services at CR Building, New -Delhi. The CBI registered a case against him on May 31, 2025. According to the CBI, the IRS official demanded a bribe of Rs 45 Lakh from a complainant. This amount was sought from the revenue/income tax department in exchange for favorable behavior. The complainant was also threatened with legal action, heavy fine and harassment on the claim. The CBI, while acting on this complaint, laid a trap and arrested the accused private person who took a bribe of Rs 25 Lakh. This bribe is sought and taken from the accused officer’s home in Mohali. The officer was then arrested from his home in Vasant Kunj, New -Delhi. CBI received 3.5 kg of gold (about 2.3 crore calls), two kg of silver, about one crore calls, cash, 25 bank accounts and documents from a lock -off box by attacking various places in Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab. In addition, several other documents and digital evidence were also recovered. The CBI said that the total assessment of all the moving and immovable properties that was recovered is still underway and further disclosures are expected in the investigation.
