Police said on Friday that a 54 -year -old cook was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and then killing two minor sisters of 9 and 8 years in Pune, Maharashtra. The accused was produced in court, from where the court sent him to the police until January 1. According to police, the accused worked as a cook in a local hotel, a neighbor of the victims and knew their family. According to the police superintendent of police (rural) Pankaj Deshmukh, the girls played near their home on Wednesday morning when they went missing, after which a search operation was started. The bodies of both girls were found in a water drum near their home later Wednesday night. SP Deshmukh said the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the older sister. He said, “When the little girl came to save her sister, the accused also assaulted her. Then she plunged both the girls into the water drum.” He said the accused was arrested from a lodge in Pune City on Thursday morning while trying to escape. A case has been registered against the accused in terms of different sections of the Judicial Code (BNS) of India (BNS) and Sexual Offenses (POCSO). Share this story -tags
