The Prime Minister of Greece speaks to Premier Modi, supports India-Eu FTA

New -Delhi, September 19 (IANS). Greece Prime Minister Kyarikos Mitsotakis spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a phone on Friday. During this time, he repeated the support of Greece for the early and mutually beneficial conclusions of the Indo-European Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He also wanted the success of the Summit for artificial intelligence to be held next year. Mitsotakis also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his birthday, on which Premier Modi thanked him. According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two leaders have welcomed the progress of bilateral relations in areas such as trade, investment, technology, shipping, defense, security, connectivity and public connectivity and the commitment to further strengthen the Indo-Gris strategic partnership. The statement reads: “Prime Minister Mitsotakis supported Greece for the success of the India-European Free Trade Agreement and the success of the AI ​​impact summit to be arranged by India in 2026. The two leaders also shared opinions on regional and global issues of mutual interest and agreed to keep in touch.” The relationship between the two countries was taken during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Greece in August 2023 at the level of ‘Strategic Partnership’. In February 2024, Mitsotakis made a state tour through India, which was the first visit to the state/government’s head of Greece after 15 years of Greece. During this time, both countries further strengthened and deepened the strategic partnership. The two leaders then described shared democratic values, freedom, international peace and security, rule-based international system, international law (including Unclos), human rights, historical relations and long-standing relationships as the basis of Indo-Gris strategic relations. Prime Minister Modi and Mitsotakis also discussed the Indo-Central East Europe Economic Gang (IMEC), which aims to increase the connectivity between India and Europe.
