Dog Hilariously Fails To Jump Into Car Trunk, and It’s All Caught on CCTV – ryan
A video of dogs getting into the owner’s car left viewers in stitches after seeing one miss the mark.
In a March 23 TikTok video posted to the account @staffysiblingss, an owner opened the tailgate and turned to look at his two dogs. The glance signaled to the American Staffordshire terriers that it was time to get into the car.
They seemed to know the drill: wait for the door to fully open, get a running start and hop inside. The home security camera captured the first dog, Bonnie, jumping inside with no issue. But Clyde, on the other hand, left the owner shaking his head.
Clyde stood slightly off to the side of the car. Instead of aiming for the open space, he tried leaping through the side window. He used his paws to push off the car and landed back on the ground. Trying to shake off his mistake, he walked around the car to find the way in.
That’s when the security camera showed both owners stepping in and pointing to the open door. The woman in the clip slapped her hands on the trunk floor to confirm Clyde understood, and he hopped up with ease.
Newsweek reached out to @staffysiblingss via TikTok for additional comment and information.
Clyde’s unfortunate miss went viral on TikTok, bringing in more than 6.3 million views and 588,800 likes as of Thursday, but many people didn’t blame the dog and, instead, thought he must’ve had a pickup truck in his past life.
“To be fair, the car is black and the interior is black. Give him a break,” commented a viewer.
Another pointed out: “It’s just bright outside, he couldn’t see for a second cuz his eyes was adjusting!”
A third suggested: “I think Clyde needs some glasses.”
Getting Dogs Into Cars
While most large dogs have no issue jumping into the car, owners might want to consider turning to safer methods to prevent injury, especially as the dogs age.
The constant jumping in and out can cause wear and tear or joint-related issues in a dog’s senior years. Plus, landing the wrong way could lead to a sprained or broken leg, an article from Top Dog Tips said.
One method owners could use is adding a doggy ramp or stairs to the car. This allows your canine to walk up and down with ease. Use treats to lure them in and out if they are unsure of the ramp.
Owners could also pick up their dog and place them inside the car, which tends to be easier for small dogs. The article warns that doing this for medium or large dogs can cause strain on the human body.
