The road to healthy eyes goes through the kitchen!

The road to healthy eyes goes through the kitchen! Like a healthy body, eye health also largely depends on diet and nutrition, but people often ignore it. According to the World Health Organization, around 2.2 billion people in the world face visual impairment. However, the amazing thing is that about 1 billion of these cases, or 90%, are the result of poor nutrition and lifestyle. Today, at least 80% of the cases of visual impairment in India are such in which it was possible to prevent visual impairment. The main reasons for its growth among them were a lack of proper nutrition in the diet and poor visual hygiene. “The road to healthy eyes runs through our kitchen,” says Dr. Rohan N Dedhia, Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist, Ojas MaxVision Eye Hospitals. Dr Rohan believes that by consuming green vegetables, fruits and Omega-3 rich foods and staying hydrated, the effects of vision loss with age can be delayed. The amount of antioxidants in readily available processed foods is negligible. As a result, the natural defense of the eyes becomes very weak. Dr Rohan said elements such as lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamins C and E and zinc also protect the eyes from harmful blue light and free radicals. In addition, nutrients such as beta-carotene and lycopene help maintain vision. In addition, a low-glycemic diet, limited screen time and proper sleep hygiene also support long-term fish health. In today’s time, when different types of devices have become one’s whole world and increased screen time is an integral part of life, diet and good lifestyle are the true companions of strong eyes.
