It is unacceptable and a serious hygiene problem. Investigate and respond as soon as possible,” Sarawagi wrote. Zomato Care replied within 30 minutes, saying it was “absolutely shocked” and apologized for the need. The company said it would investigate the matter with the restaurant partner and follow up directly with the client. “Hello Saath, we are absolutely shocked to hear about this. Is it part of a bigger problem with food safety? The incident is reminiscent of previous cases of food safety shared by dissatisfied customers online. In one widely reported case in 2023, a Bengaluru man who ordered from Freshmenu, a cloud kitchen promoted on delivery programs as healthy meals, found a live worm in one of his meals. He placed the order via Zomato and later shared a now-viral video with all three boxes, zooming in to reveal the worm. After sharing the video, Fresh Menu issued an excuse and gave the assurance that proper steps would be taken. They wrote, “Pratik, we write to expand our sincere apology for the incident you experienced with your recent order from Freshmenu.
