There should be no more than 12 hour shift in the TV industry, 8-10 hours is enough: Kanwar Dhillon

Mumbai, October 19 (IANS). Actor Kanwar Dhillon recently emphasized that he should not have shifts of more than 12 hours in the TV industry. He said that there is a need to limit the working hours here. In an interview with IANS, Kanwar Dhillon said, “I haven’t heard of any official change, but I would prefer to work in standard 8-10 hour shifts instead of 12 or more hours. Sometimes episodes have to be shot overnight, then it becomes difficult to say no to that. But, ideally there should be 9-10 hour shifts.” The discussion about long work shifts in the film industry started when Deepika Padukone expressed her desire to work in 8-hour shifts. His statement sparked a new debate and now many television personalities continue to share their views on this issue with people. Naira Banerjee had earlier spoken about the tiring work culture of the TV industry. Naira talked about how long shoots can take a toll on actors’ health, sleep and their lives. He stressed the need for work-life balance. ‘Khakee: The Bengal Chapter’ actress Naira Banerjee told IANS, “I completely agree. We often work fifteen hours a day, which affects health, sleep and performance. Without adequate rest, actors cannot look fresh or express emotions with full energy. So whenever I do a show, I insist on at least one or half a day off in the week. You need time for yourself and your personal responsibilities.” There has long been talk of reducing or limiting work shifts in the film industry. But it has been seen many times that any actor who speaks about it finds it difficult to get work or gets thrown out of a project. –IANS JP/ABM Share this story Tags
