He said that this day of Chhath Puja is important to offer Arghya to the setting sun. Greeting the devotees, the Chief Minister said that the government has made proper arrangements at Chhath Ghats. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that Monday, October 27 will be a public holiday on the occasion of the Chhath festival. The Chief Minister informed that this festival is celebrated as a holiday on Monday because on the third day of this four-day festival, the devotees go to the bank of the river or pond at sunset and offer Arghya to the setting Sun God. On this day, preparations start from the morning itself and the whole family is busy completing some task or the other. According to the Chief Minister, keeping this fact in mind, the government has declared Monday, October 27 as a public holiday. Congratulating the devotees on this festival, the Chief Minister said that Chhath festival is a festival dedicated to nature, in which Sun God and Chhathi Maiya are worshipped. He said that Chhath festival is also a symbol of faith, devotion and purity, which gives us the message of environmental protection through the worship of nature, water and sun. He said that this festival is a celebration of folk faith and rich tradition of Indian culture, in which family, society and community come together. The Chief Minister said that the Delhi government has ensured cleanliness, security and arrangement of all necessary facilities at all Chhath Ghats so that devotees can worship without any worries. He expressed confidence that this festival will bring happiness, prosperity and new energy in everyone’s life and further strengthen brotherhood and harmony in the society.
