I think the number of golfers in India will increase tremendously over the next few decades.” Indian golfer Ajitesh Sandhu told IANS: “I think it shows the strength of India. So many international leaders have come here to speak. I mean, the importance of India on the world stage—it just shows that. Golf is growing a lot. I think it’s the fastest growing sport in India now. And you can see a lot of sponsors coming and giving a lot of support.” Amitabh Kant said, “The most promising sport in India right now is golf. India will produce all the top champions in the world. Our population is very young. Our average age is only 28 years. For the next 30 years, the world’s top golfers will come from India.” Former Indian cricket team captain and active golfer Kapil Dev said, “This is a game you can play at any age. It is very difficult for a cricketer or a footballer to play at the age of 50. Here you can play with your father, your grandchildren, your friends and your wife. That’s why this game is so big.” –IANS PAK Share this story Tags
