Violence in Bangladesh: BNP workers hit the road in protest march against the death of their leader
Dhaka, April 2 (IANS). The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its associated organizations blocked the Bhola-Velumia road on Wednesday to protest the death of their leader. According to local media, the deceased was identified as Jamaluddin Hauladar. He was the president of the BNP ward of the Velumia Union. He died in a violent collision over land dispute in the Bhola district. The incident happened on Tuesday when there was a confrontation between two competitive groups led by Mohammad Ibrahim and Mohammad Alam of Kunjapatti Village on land ownership. As the tension increased, the BNP leaders R doctors declared him dead after taking Jamaluddin to a private clinic in Barisal. Muhammad Nurul Islam, general secretary of Velumia Union BNP, said at the head of the Bangladesh, ‘Prothom Alo’, that Jamaluddin would stop the collision between the two parties. However, Ibrahim Rari’s son stabbed him and caused him to be seriously injured. Local people, GNP leaders and activists protested in the incident with a fair trial. Abu Shahadat Muhammad Hachanin Parvez, Bhola Sadar police station, said: ‘No complaint was received from any party in this incident. If a complaint is received, action will be taken.
