The Department of Basic Education has ordered to close these schools immediately and take legal action against the operators. These invalid schools lack qualified teachers and safety standards, affecting children’s education. The department is taking strict steps to improve the quality of education. These schools of UP may be closed, Education Department has given instructions to all district BSA’s State Bureau, Lucknow. The basic education department has started taking strict action against unrecognized schools in the state. So far 1230 unrecognized schools have been identified from the districts. The department has instructed all the District Basic Education Officers (BSA) to close such schools immediately. Also, even after notice is given, legal action should be taken against those running unrecognized schools. The future of children studying in these unapproved schools is at risk as they lack qualified teachers, safety standards, textbooks and inspection systems. This has a serious impact on the quality of children’s education. During the merger of schools with less than 50 enrollment into board schools, teachers’ organizations also raised the issue that enrollment in government schools is not increasing due to invalid schools. After this, the department of basic education instructed all the districts to draw up a list of unrecognized schools and take action against them. So far, 1230 invalid schools have been identified in 52 out of 75 districts, of which most of the schools operate up to class five. According to the rules, it is mandatory to obtain recognition from the Basic Education Board for running a school from class one. Reports have so far not been received from 23 districts. The department has instructed these districts to send the list of invalid schools soon. Besides, strict instructions were given to all the districts that invalid schools should not be operated under any circumstances. On behalf of Monica Rani, director-general School Education, in the division review meeting until 31 October, instructions are given to the Basic Education Officers to improve the quality of education and increase regular monitoring.
