700 'Way-S-Amnities' on the banks of National Highways by financial year 2029 will be completed: Nitin Gadkari

The central government on Wednesday provided information that the construction of more than 700 their facilities (WSA) on the banks of national highways is likely to be completed with FY 2028-2029. The facilities on the side include facilities such as fuel station, loading of electric vehicles, toilets, drinking water, parking space, Dhaba/restaurant/restaurant, etc. Union Road minister and highways, Nitin Gadkari, said in the Rajya Sabha that the construction of 501-side facilities on the banks of the national freeways/highway was completed so far. The Union Minister said that 94 of these side facilities were in effect. Through the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), the government intends to manufacture the facilities on the side with an interval of about 40-60 km. The ministry said: “A digital feedback system is installed in the facilities on the side with a view to better monitoring, allowing users to provide digital input.” It is operated by private bids selected. According to the ministry, areas for small stores and stalls were assigned as part of compulsory facilities in the dedicated covered zone to create jobs and promote local artisans. The government promotes local products by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). To maintain the Great National Highway (NH) network, the government approved a short -term maintenance contract (STMC) at a cost of Rs 2.842 crore in FY 2025 and 6,757 km at a cost of Rs 6,757 crore (PBMC) at a cost of RS 6.757 CRore (PBMC) 6,757 crore (PBMC). The works have been approved. Currently, 1.310 national highway projects that cost Rs 8.11 lakh crore in the country are under construction. While STMC work is usually performed for a 1-2 year contract period, PBMC work is done about 5-7 years of contract period.
