Center Reviews Registration Fees for Coal Importers, who do the ease of business

New -Delhi, April 17 (IANS). In order to promote the ease of affairs and to ensure uniformity in import monitoring platforms, the CoAL Ministry on Thursday said it was rationalized by reviewing the fees of the CoAL Imort Monitoring System (CIMS) portal. Registration fees were reviewed at the same rate of Rs 500 per consignment, which is in effect from April 15, 2025. According to the statement of the Ministry of Coal, this new fee structure changes the old system, with a fee of Rs 500 to Rs 1.00,000 per consignment. CIMS is now in line with other import monitoring systems such as steel import monitoring system (SIMS), non-NABY import monitoring system (NFIMS) and paper input monitoring system (PIMs), all of which work on uniform service models. This initiative ensures ‘self -sufficient India’ by making real -time monitoring and informed decisions in coal import substance. CIMS is a digital platform developed to ensure timely and accurate data for the streamline of coal imports, effective policy formulation and regional analysis. Coal importers are now registering their consignment details in the CIMS Portal before the arrival of shipping at the port in India. In order to strengthen transparency and efficiency in the monitoring of coal imports, importers must get a car registration number of the CIMS portal, which is used in the entry account at the time of the customs withdrawal. The ministry said it was committed to facilitating matters, increasing transparency and streamlining regulatory processes to support India’s growing industrial and energy needs. Coal production increased to 190.95 million tonnes (MT) in FY 2025, with a large growth of 29.79 percent from 147.11 MT in the previous financial year. Coal transfer also had an extraordinary increase and reached 190.42 MT, which is 33.36 percent higher than 142.79 MT recorded in FY 2023-24. -Ians SKT/CBT
