This is why bug bites itch!

Trending This is why bug bites itch! After a mosquito or ant bite, we start to feel severe itching. Do you know the reason behind this? When an insect bites us, it leaves its saliva in our skin. The chemicals found in their saliva prevent blood from clotting. It is so that as long as the worm sucks our blood, the blood flow continues. But our body sees the insect’s saliva as a foreign substance. As soon as the body detects that a foreign substance has entered the body, the body’s immune system immediately becomes active. In response to saliva, the immune system releases a chemical called histamine. This chemical causes our blood vessels to dilate and cause swelling in the skin. This is the body’s defense mechanism, causing redness, swelling and itching at the bitten area. This happens because the body is trying to expel poison or saliva. This allergic reaction is very serious in some people. One reason for this may be that the immune system is too sensitive. In such a situation, itching or swelling on the person’s skin increases even more and is called ‘hypersensitive reaction’. If the itching is severe, then place a cold bandage on the bitten area. Antihistamine creams or lotions also help reduce itching. If necessary, consult a doctor. Click here for more stories of life and style Click here
