ASUS Expertbook P1 Review: Strong performance, good value, but a few rough rands | Mint

Asus made a new page with its Expertbook P1 series that became the first commercial laptop by the business to dig the traditional B2B model and be sold directly to businesses via an exclusive Flipkart partnership. The Taiwanese technical giant wants to cover more land by appealing directly to the end customers with the value proposition. The ExpertBook P1 is the entry -level laptop in this series that starts at a starting price of £ 39,990, but the version reviewed here sells for £ 72.990. Marketing If the perfect companion for businesses, the ExpertBook P1 really meets the promise? Well, I use the laptop about two weeks as my daily manager and here are my two pieces on the actual performance. Unboxing and Design: Open the eco-friendly cardboard box of the Expertbook P1, you are greeted with the laptop itself, a 65W adapter with a type C cable (more on this later), and a lot of paperwork (see the photo below). ASUS Expertbook P1 ASUS Expertbook P1 Design The version I received comes in Misty Gray with a matte finish that keeps fingerprints on the right track. There is a small yet clear Asus -expert books at the back, within a metal plate, and a similar minimalist logo just below the screen. The laptop is entirely of plastic, although ASUS claims to use a reinforced metal chassis for increased durability. The design of the ExpertBook P1 Screams Business, with a minimalist, distraction -free appearance thanks to the color choice. Unlike other ASUS shooters I have checked, this one is on the thinner side and does not give it up as much from a premium atmosphere – but I think it is the compromise for the price. For what it is worth, the 14-inch variant weighs about 1.4 kg, which is still on the lighter side and can easily be worn in a regular backpack. Performance: The Expertbook P1 has a 14-inch Full HD IPS screen with a 16: 9 aspect ratio and the peak-brightness of 300 nits. The screen is guarded by thick frames on all sides, with a thin chin at the bottom – but it’s a kind of the track. In daily use, I had no problems with the FHD panel because it gets very bright for my needs, with sufficient details and sharpness, even when I sit next to a bright window (thanks to the anti-glossy show). However, it was difficult to work on the laptop while traveling with bright sunshine in taxis, as the text was difficult to read. The screen also has only a 45% NTSC color spectrum, which means it is not ideal for video editors or someone who needs a lot of color-acurate screens for their work. The paired stereo speakers with Dirac Branding provide hard and clear sound that will be sufficient for most users, whether they watch a YouTube video, play music or attend video calls. However, if you need more details of the sound, a wired headphone is always recommended. Webcam and AI features: The Expertbook P1 has a 720p webcam with a dedicated shield to hide the camera if not used. I took some video calls with this laptop to test the camera quality, and it seems to be good enough for the price – but don’t make your hope rise too high. Artificial intelligence nowadays achieves most laptops, and ASUS also does not remain behind. Not only does the Expertbook P1 come with the dedicated Microsoft Copilot key, but it also brings a new AI ExpertMeet app that can transfer meetings, add watermarks to the team meetings and even generate a few minutes from the meeting on the device. In addition, you get the usual suite ASUS AI features such as tin correction, movement detection and light optimization. Asus Expertbook P1 AI ExpertMeet app by Work Asus Expertbook P1 Webcam Quality Keyboard: The Expertbook P1 contains the same keyboard in the Chiclet style found on most ASUS shooters, with good key travel. The typing experience on this laptop is extremely important, with the keys that don’t need much pressure and the keyboard does not produce a lot of sound, even if you tap quickly. The touch path under the keyboard is large enough to work with all the Windows shortcuts, while it is not too large to take over the entire real estate. It is fluent and responds to use, although there is a little covering above that is not quite right with my fingers (it may differ from person to person). Inside the touch panel is a square cut for the fingerprint sensor, which comes with fido2 coding and is fast and accurate enough for daily use. Connection and durability traits: As you would expect from an ASUS laptop, the Expertbook P1 has many connectivity options. To the left of the laptop you get 2 USB 3.2 Type-C ports, an HDMI 1.1 port and a 3.5 mm headphone connection. On the right you get a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A Port, an Ethernet Gate (handy for office environments) and a Nano Kensington lock slot. It supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. Asus says expert Book P1 passed 24 Test procedures among the US military degree Mil-STD-810H standards. It is said that the laptop withstands up to 50 kg of sticker on both the lid and bottom, while the keyboard also has 66 cents of the shower resistance. Asus also included several features in the BIOS, such as self-healing BIOS repair and detection of intrusion, to help secure user data. Performance and Battery: This version of the Expertbook P1 comes with the 13th Gen Intel Core I7-13620H processor with 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM. Along with the 512 GB PCIE Gen 4 SSD, the laptop works like a breeze with the quick app opening times and no noticeable delay during the assessment period. Even if you open 20 tabs (give or take) in a browser, the laptop has not broken a sweat, and more importantly, there was no noticeable fan noise thanks to the improved cooling mechanism by ASUS. However, the processor used on the Expertbook P1 is a 2 -year -old slide, which means that there is not too much an improvement in battery life you see with the newer Intel and especially Snapdragon -based chips. That said, the 50Wh battery on the P1 lasts about 5 hours on a single charge and can be charged with the bundled 65W charger and even with mobile power banks or chargers during emergencies. One good thing with the bundled charger is that it comes with PD and PPS support, which means it can not only pump the laptop, but even give life to some of other USB-C-powered devices such as telephones, especially those who do not come to a charger inside the box (you know who I talk about). Progress: At a price of £ 72,990, the Asus Expertbook P1 marks the most boxes for a business -focused laptop, delivers reliable performance, a sharp show, comfortable typing experience and good quality. The additional security functions and value additions (such as free 1 year McAfee antivirus and additional guarantee) further sweeten the agreement. Although the screen was better suited for bright outdoor use, the expert book P1 is an easy recommendation for those who work mainly indoors or in office environments.
