Three batter on more than 108 kg of hydroponic weeds in the Pan-India operations
New Delhi, September 16 (PTI), said the Directorate Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Tuesday that it has seized 108.67 kg of hydroponic weeds in separate Pan-India operations for the past 20 days. As part of the continued ‘Operation Weed Out’ of Pan-India, Dri seized 39.2 kg of hydroponic weeds at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, on September 13-14, 2025, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement. Three persons have been arrested in a coordinated operation, in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Sastance (NDPs) Act, 1985, it states. Dri -officers acted on specific intelligence and intercepted two Indian citizens who arrived from Bangkok, it states. “The thorough examination of their informed luggage led to the recovery of 39 packets weighing 39.2 kg of hydroponic cannabis. A quick follow -up action led to the arrest of the proposed recipient,” it states. In another case, based on specific intelligence, the officials of Dria seized 7.8 kg (gross weight) hydroponic weeds smuggled to Mumbai from Bangkok, Thailand, and two passengers arrested under the appropriate provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Dri smuggled 61.67 kg of hydroponic weeds separately from Bangkok smuggled to different parts of India, including Jaipur, Lucknow and Kolkata, during the period from 26 September 2025. Earlier, Dri seized a total of 72,024 kg of hydroponic weeds worth approximately £ 72, along with illegal yields of £ 1.02 crore as part of a Pan-India operation on August 20-25, and five persons, including financiers and a mastermind under the provisions of the NDPS Act, added it.
