Assam: Police shot four suspects related to Ulfa-I to escape from supervision
Guwahati, December 24 (IANS). Four youths who are believed to be associated with Ulfa-I in Assam were injured in an attempt to escape from detention by police. An official said on Sunday that the four were injured when he was shot in two different places. A young man was seriously injured in the Konwarpur area in the Sivasagar district in a shooting, identified as Pallab Jyoti Gogoi. Police claim that Gogoi was a framework of an illegal group and that he was involved in various activities for the United Liberation front of Asom-independent (Ulfa-I) in the state. He is a resident of Bikrampur Chariali in Sivasagar. He was admitted to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh. Meanwhile, three youths were shot dead by police in the Tinsukia district in a similar incident Saturday night. Police have claimed they will join Ulfai. According to police, the youths were identified as Bishwanath Buragohen, Manoj Buragohen and Nabin Nigig. Everyone is residents of different areas in the Tinsukia district.
