New Delhi, October 18 (IANS). In view of the festive season of Dhanteras and Diwali, Delhi Police has made tight security arrangements in the national capital. Multi-layered security arrangements have been implemented in crowded markets, public places and commercial centers to ensure that Delhiites have a safe and happy festival experience. Heavy deployment of Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel has been made. A joint flag march was organized today in busy areas like Chandni Chowk, with the aim of instilling confidence in the public and instilling fear in criminals. Delhi Traffic Police has taken special measures to ensure smooth traffic and safety of pedestrians during the festive rush. Movement of heavy vehicles was controlled and maximum manpower deployed. A traffic advisory has been issued urging the public to use public transport, avoid private vehicles and follow traffic rules. Information about designated parking spaces, deviations and other important instructions were also shared. Delhi Police has increased foot patrolling to combat crimes. The activeness of the police in all the districts helps to maintain law and order and prevent incidents such as theft and robbery in crowded areas. Checks against sabotage have been tightened at major markets, railway stations and interstate bus stands. Police teams and dog squad are engaged in this work. Vigilance announcements are made through scaffolding and PA system for crowd management in collaboration with market associations. A senior Delhi Police official said that special vigilance is being maintained at crowded places during the festive season. Additional police forces have been deployed in major markets like Chandni Chowk, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar and Kamla Market. Monitoring is also done using CCTV cameras and drones.
