Titic emphasized that SPM was an answer to the limited country and shrinking sector workers in Indonesia, so that the SPM cultivation system could be mimicked and implemented by farmers elsewhere to achieve food self -provision. “Imagine that the average ownership of farmers’ land in Agam Regency is no more than 3,000 square meters, but the yields of the rice crop are much more. I think this SPM method should be considered as imitating and carrying out in other regions, so food self-sufficiency is faster,” Titic said. SPM cultivation, which has been developed since 2021, has become popular with Agam Regency farmers due to high harvests, using the harvesting of harmps as mulch, without soil processing, does not need much labor, a little inorganic fertilizer and can suppress the plant -distrusting organisms. Furthermore, Title said that Commission IV supports sustainable agriculture that has reached the well -being of farmers and the objectives of the ASTA Cita in the form of food dependence. “We in Commission IV of the Indonesian Parliament support the innovation, initiative and creativity of farmers in Indonesia in sustainable agriculture, such as cheap rice fields in Agam Regency, because farmers will be wealthy at the end, the target of ASTA Cita Mandiri food is reached and the state becomes strong,” Titic says.
