Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW) emphasized the importance of the role of the younger generation in guarding and implementing the values of the Four Pillars of the MPR RI, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal. He also emphasized the need for a good and correct understanding of the four pillars as exemplified by the founding fathers of the nation in order to realize the Vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045. This was conveyed in the Socialization of the Four Pillars of the MPR RI held by the MPR RI and DPP IMM DKI Jakarta. With the theme ‘Prepare Superior Human Resources to Welcome a Golden Indonesia 2045’, the event was held on Sunday (19/10) at the FEB Uhamka Hall, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta. “Muhammadiyah considers Indonesia as ‘Darul Ahdi wa Shahadah’ (Land of Agreement and Land of Testimony). This means that there is no more doubt. Our task, Muhammadiyah youth and students, is to continue and maintain this agreement, and provide testimony (shahadah),” HNW said in its statement, Thursday (23/10/2025). On this occasion, HNW also explained two important points that must be maintained by Gen-Z, especially IMM, namely the maintenance of agreements and testimony. In this case, the younger generation must be at the forefront of understanding, implementing and maintaining the Four Pillars of the Indonesian MPR. The younger generation is also expected to be able to warn the public and state administrators if there is a deviation from the basic agreement. In this way, all parties can return to the path of national and state truth. HWN also emphasized the importance of the role of testimony, especially when there are deviations from Pancasila values. Not only that, HNW also highlighted the potential threat if deviations in the implementation of Pancasila are allowed, such as claiming to believe in Almighty God but being anti-religious. Then, claims to be just and civilized humanity, but allows inhumane laws and uncivilized behavior. Apart from that, recognizing the unity of Indonesia, it actually divides the nation’s children between those who are national and religious. Furthermore, he claims to support the people who are guided by wisdom in deliberation/representation, but dominated by an attitude of dictation and neglect of deliberation. Finally, he claims to promote social justice, but his orientation is only for his own group or certain oligarchs. “If this deviation is allowed, it will be difficult for us to envision a golden Indonesia in 2045. What emerges instead is anxiety and weakness, which will not bring gold,” he stressed. Correcting the framing of Gen Z HNW also highlights the need to correct the negative framing of Generation Z which is often described as an anti-social, anti-process generation, and not caring about the surrounding environment. According to him, this labeling is trending and not only counterproductive, but also has the potential to ignore the great potential of today’s youth. “This is a wrong frame and is contrary to the concept of Darul Ahdi wa Shahadah decided by Muhammadiyah. The proof is that these IMM friends have shown extraordinary commitment from Gen Z. They have been active in various positive activities for the past few days from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. This means that their facts about Gen Z are true, not as explained in the frame,” he explained. He also emphasized that Gen Z, as exemplified by IMM, actually shows great concern for social, environmental and humanitarian issues through various forms of creativity and real action in the digital space and in the field. Therefore, HNW encourages society and policy makers to see this generation with a more fair and constructive perspective, and to offer them space to play an active role in the nation building process. HNW also encourages students to emulate national figures of Muhammadiyah who were directly involved in the formulation of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Republic of Indonesia and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. They are Ki Bagus Hadikusumo, KH Abdul Kahar Mudzakkir, MR Kasman Singodimejo, and Bung Karno who is also a Muhammadiyah figure. “With the spirit of imitating the founding fathers of Muhammadiyah, the younger generation, Gen Z, including IMM, will be on the right track to prepare and position themselves to welcome the best contribution to Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
