Torture fellow Indonesian citizens, 3 Indonesian citizens arrested in Malaysia
Jakarta – Malaysian authorities have arrested three Indonesian citizens (WNI) for their alleged involvement in the torture of a fellow Indonesian citizen with the initials DAK. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) will provide legal aid to victims. Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, said that the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur continues to coordinate with the Malaysian Police (PDRM) regarding the case. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Embassy’s protection team met the victim. “Through coordination with PDRM, information was obtained that six offenders were arrested and detained for investigation purposes. The six offenders consisted of three Indonesian citizens and three Malaysian KTP holders,” Judha said as reported by Antara, Thursday (16/10/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT He said initial investigations showed indications that the main perpetrator was an Indonesian citizen. According to Judha, the Indonesian Embassy received a complaint about the torture of DAK on October 12, 2025, and the Indonesian Embassy’s protection team met DAK at the hospital where he was being treated. The victim then provided information that on 7 October 2025 he experienced torture by Indonesian citizens and Malaysian citizens due to personal problems. DAK was taken to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur for medical treatment by local residents. Judha said the victim is now gradually recovering. He said the victim was able to communicate well and was able to walk without aids. Apart from coordinating with PDRM, the Indonesian Embassy also continues to communicate with the hospital where DAK is being treated, prepare documents to aid investigations, and provide legal assistance. He called on Indonesian citizens abroad to always maintain their behavior and avoid actions that violate the laws of other countries. “The Indonesian embassy will continue to monitor the case process, including legal assistance for the victim,” Judha said.
