Ibas calls fellow-off-fire technology to reduce new economy waste
Jakarta -Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian MPR of the Democratic Party Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) emphasized the importance of the application of biomass cooperative technology as a solution to reduce carbon emissions as well as new economic opportunities. He considered having a variety of benefits, such as strengthening national energy security to create new jobs. Therefore, he regarded the ratification of the Renewable Energy (EBT) Bill as a legitimate basis for the acceleration of energy transitions. It was transferred by Edthie Baskoro into a hearing opportunity with the PT Pln Nusantara Power (PLN NP) event Pacitan Power Plant “Co-Fire Biomass: Challenges, Opportunities and Role of Pltu in encouraging the performance of the National Ebt Target” in Pacitan, Friday (8/7/2025). “The Pacitan district has a pltu, a source of energy that can flow through, the community supports not only in Pacitan, but also wider in the country Java and Bali. We are grateful that this program is present thanks to the initiation of President Sby, Pacitan’s sons, who regard the energy as a strategic challenge of the nation,” Browse to continue with the Ibas content hope that the management of Pacitan Pltu can work optimally and efficiently, so that Indonesia will be more independent in providing energy. “If we want to continue to be more advanced and prosperous, we need to pay attention to energy. In addition, the world is now moving to reduce the dependence on fossil energy,” he explained. On this occasion, he also highlighted the importance of transition to clean energy by the application of biomass which is together in the PLTU. This technology combines coal burning with biomass raw materials such as agricultural waste or garbage, disagrees to reduce carbon emissions. “Biomass-firing is a concrete step in the direction of eternal clean energy. In addition to reducing co₂ emissions, this policy also opens new industrial opportunities and creates it works in the biomass sector,” he said. Furthermore, Ibas emphasized that Indonesia, led by President Prabowo, is currently focusing on creating energy independence. “Indonesia faces a major challenge in energy transition. In accordance with the thinking of President Prabowo, the government is now not only focused on food dependence, but also energy independence,” he said. “Energy is a source of life, and to progress and prosperous, we must ensure the availability of sustainable energy. We must reduce dependence on fossil energy and develop new renewable energy that is environmentally friendly for the sake of a healthy future generation. He also referred to the urgency of ratifying the concept of New Renewable Energy Act (RUU EBT) as a strong legitimate umbrella to encourage investment and accelerate energy transitions. “One of the keys to the acceleration of energy transition is the presence of the bill. The target is that the national mixture of renewable energy reaches 23% in 2025 and increases to 30% in 2050. But the discussion is still difficult due to differences in interests between the fossil sector and renewable energy,” Ibas said. According to him, these obstacles can be overcome by intensive communication, attractive fiscal incentives and increased HR capacity in the energy sector. He invited all parties to work together, including PLN and the central and regional governments, so that Pacitan could become a pilot of the renewable energy center in Indonesia. “The goal is the same: to create sustainability and environmental welfare. With the support of regulation, technology and joint commitment, I am sure that Pacitan can be a role model in the transition of clean energy,” he explained. Ibas argued that biomass is an energy solution for a better future. “Biomass is an energy solution, after a bright future. Together, our dreams for the earth that are more advanced and prosperous,” he explained. He also invited the regional and central government to strengthen the biomass supply chain. “If we can systematically manage waste and agricultural waste, Pacitan will have a stable source of biomass. It is not only a matter of PLTU, but also economic opportunities for the community,” he said. Meanwhile, senior manager of PT Pln Nusantara Power (PLN NP) Pacitan Munif Generator Unit expressed his pursuit and turmoil with regard to the challenges that will face in the future. “We are very grateful for this invitation. A very rare opportunity for us. Like the program launched by PLN, we also hold Biomass-Medig in 2021. In 2024, a total of 184 thousand tonnes of biomass we used,” says Munif. “We are also still encouraged because co-fire is an important part of energy transition. Our obstacles are in business processes that can support the availability of biomass stock as needed. Waste that can be used comes from agriculture, plantations, industry and waste,” he continued. In addition, the Regent of Pacitan Indrata Nuraj agreed on the importance of cooperation to overcome waste. According to him, the problem of waste cannot be charged to one party to overcome the problem of waste. “We will encourage the management of waste in Pacitan so that it can be used for biomass in the future. In this way, the target of the availability of raw materials for fellow fire will be more guaranteed,” he concluded.
