Updated: Fri, 24 Oct 2025 01:18 (IST) Traveling on the dilapidated KMP Expressway is risky. Despite toll collection, the roads are broken and illegal cuttings increase the risk of accidents. There is a lack of safety measures on the highway, which makes traveling at night even more dangerous. It must be repaired immediately to ensure the safety of passengers. The journey on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) highway turns out to be dangerous for the passengers. Kulveer Chauhan, Palwal. The journey on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) highway turns out to be dangerous for the passengers. The condition of the highway in the radius of about 55 kilometers from Palwal to Manesar is very bad. Broken highway road, illegal cuts, absence of street lights and vehicles parked along the road become the causes of accidents. Drivers constantly complain about this to HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation), which handles the maintenance and toll collection of the expressway, but they are not heard. Vehicles will be able to travel at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. But the highway is in bad condition. Even in the Road Safety Committee meeting, the District Deputy Commissioner has given instructions several times to construct broken roads, close illegal cuts and remove illegal dhabas, but the situation remains the same. The highway road has been uprooted in many places and large potholes have been formed in many places. The situation is so bad that even the vehicles’ tires burst due to deep potholes. Illegal cuts in many places invite accidents. Because of these cuts, even helpless animals get in the way. Here there is a possibility of an accident due to these animals suddenly coming in front of fast moving vehicles. Lights are not installed in many places. In such a situation, due to lack of light at night, the potholes are not visible to the pedestrians. White stripes are missing in many places on the road for several kilometers and reflectors are also nowhere to be seen. In addition, there is a ban on riding two-wheelers and three-wheelers on the highway. But they run indiscriminately on the highway. Due to a lack of emergency services, the victim does not get help even half an hour after an accident. Road repairs are also underway. There is also constant work to improve the poor condition of the highway. At a cost of around Rs 50 crore, a new layer of road is being laid by filling the potholes on the road in a radius of about 45 kilometers from Manesar to Palwal. This work has been ongoing since the beginning of this month. But huge potholes in Palwal border are becoming a problem for the pedestrians every day. People demanded that the repairs be completed as soon as possible. Big trucks are parked along the road, dhabas are built. Most of the traffic on KMP is from heavy vehicles. These vehicles are parked at dhabas which are illegally built along the road. As a result, there remains a risk of accidents. Despite collecting lakhs of rupees, facilities are not available. 60 thousand vehicles drive on the highway every day. Here, toll worth lakhs is collected every day at toll plazas installed at various locations. Toll is charged at the start of the expressway within the limits of Palwal. After this, the second toll road reaching Delhi-Vadodara Expressway is located at Kheda Khalilpur village. There are also toll plazas at Sohna and Tawadu interchanges. There is also a lot of toll ahead of Kundli. But despite collecting huge tolls, facilities are not provided. “Many times in the Road Safety Committee meetings instructions are given to fill the potholes. Road repair work is also going on on KMP Express, which will be completed soon. Other problems will also be solved soon.” – Dr. Harish Vashishtha, District Deputy Commissioner Also Read- KMP Expressway: Repair of Palwal-Manesar section has begun, work will be completed in six months; It will cost Rs 49 crore
