Tribal traditions remind that development must be in harmony with nature: President Draupadi Murmu
New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). President Draupadi Murmu on Friday addressed the national conference on ‘Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan’ at a function held in New Delhi and presented awards to the best performing states, districts, blocks and integrated tribal development agencies. On this occasion, the President said that this conference reflects our national intention to make governance truly participatory, inclusive and based on public participation. He further said that Adi Karmayogi campaign was launched with a transformative vision to make every tribal village self-reliant and proud village. He underlined that the aim of this campaign is to ensure that tribal communities participate in the development journey of the nation and that the benefits of development reach all tribal areas and people. He expressed confidence that the Tribal Action Framework will play an important role in the development of our tribal people and the development of the country. The President said that the Aadi Karmayogi campaign strengthens the spirit of public participation by empowering gram sabhas and community-led institutions. He said that through meaningful participation of the tribal community, national policies can be influenced and schemes can be made more effective. The President said that our tribal communities are an important part of the socio-cultural diversity of the country. He said tribal traditions remind us that development must be in harmony with nature. The President emphasized that the Government has taken several concrete steps in recent years to ensure the overall development of tribal communities. He further said that these efforts are not only aimed at providing financial assistance but also at providing opportunities for equal participation in education, health, employment, technical skills and management. He said the government has rapidly expanded infrastructure in tribal areas and residential schools and scholarship programs have been established to bring tribal youth into the mainstream. He emphasized that skill development and self-employment schemes have given new vigor to traditional handicrafts, handicrafts and entrepreneurship. He was happy to see that these efforts not only increased livelihood opportunities but also strengthened the self-confidence and self-reliance of the tribal people. The President said that in our journey towards a developed India, we should remember that the real progress of the nation and the society lies in the development of all sections of the society.
