Truck hits pickup truck on East Jakarta's Buaran plane, driver's legs crushed in cabin
Jakarta – A container truck crashed into a pickup truck carrying tofu when it was raining on the Buaran flyover to Kalimalang, Klender area, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. The truck driver was pinned in the leg. The incident apparently took place around 19.18 WIB. After receiving the information, the Gulkarmat sub-department team immediately went to the spot and carried out an initial evacuation around 19.35 WIB. “There was an accident on the Buaran flyover section towards Kalimalang. A box truck hit a bakkie. We received information at around 19.18 WIB,” Chief of the Rescue Team for the Duren Sawit Sector Gulkarmat Sub-Department, Joko Prasetiyo at the scene of the incident, as reported by Antara, Wednesday (22/10/2025) reported, said. SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Joko explained that the heavy rain limited visibility for the driver of the bakkie with plate number B 9387 FXR. As a result, the vehicle hit the B 9565 TAX bakkie which was passing in front of it. “It is believed that due to the rainy conditions, the truck driver’s visibility was reduced, causing him to crash into the vehicle in front. The impact was quite hard, which caused the cab of the truck to cave in and pin the driver’s legs,” he said. The victim’s name is Adi Kurnia (32), a resident of Cigodong Village RT 03/01, Sirnajati Village, Cibarusah District, Bekasi Regency, West Java. When officers arrived, the victim was conscious but had injuries to his legs from being pinned by the collapsed truck cab. To evacuate victims, the East Jakarta Gulkarmat sub-department deployed two units of Sector 7 and one medium unit with a total of 10 personnel. Personnel immediately performed evacuation efforts using metal cutting equipment. The evacuation started at 19.35 WIB and the victim was successfully freed at around 19.53 WIB. “The process went quite quickly because coordination between members in the field went well,” he said. After being successfully freed, the victim was immediately evacuated to the Pondok Kopi Islamic Hospital to receive further medical treatment. Meanwhile, the two vehicles involved in the accident were detained by the police for further investigation. (azh/wnv)
