Trump-Putin Alaska meeting started with an applause, a handshake, then an unexpected ride on the ‘animal’

The high interests Donald Trump and Vladimir Putn in Anchorage, Alaska, are staring with a written opening-qualion leaders who separate their respective aircraft, smile and shake each other’s hands on the tar road. Pats on the arm followed by a military flare greeted the world. But then things changed. Putin was suddenly seen slipping behind Trump’s presidential armed Limousine ‘The Beast’, where Bloomberg reported that they had a minute-long conversation-the first essential talk in six years outside the ears of their assistants, media and other officials. The short drive from the tar road to the top room at the joint base Elmendorf-Richardson, a US military facility, lasted less than ten minutes. But it gave both leaders the chance for the most private conversations during a meeting that watched and studied the whole world intensely. It was unclear whether their ride was planned together, or a last second improvisation by the couple. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. At a podium moments earlier, Trump and Putin posed for photos while reporters call out questions. One shouted or Putin would still “kill civilians”, but the Russian president pointed to his ear and shook his head that he couldn’t hear. Trump then called time and gestured for Putin to walk with him to the vehicle. The Russian leader was caught by the cameras smiling through the window as it pulled away. The Russian presidential limousine stood in the area. Stage set, talks start a blue-walled room is set up for the talks, decorated with American and Russian flags. Next to Trump was an interpreter, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and American envoy Steve Witkoff. On the part of Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Kremlin Future Policy, Yuri Ushakov. Shortly before 11:30 a.m. local time started the formal top. At stake: the future of Ukraine, peace in Europe and the economies of Russia and its trading partners, under the threat of increased US financial fines as discussions fail. In practice, the actual discussions have already begun. Only Trump and Putin may know what was said. (With Bloomberg inputs)
