Police said the fire broke out at the factory in Parthapratim Dholahat area at 20:30 on Monday. (Ani photo) “We arrested Chandrakanta Banik, one of the two brothers who used to run the fire worker unit earlier. The other one Tushar Banik is still existing,” said Koteswara Rao, superintendent of the Sundarban police district. Eight members of a family, including four children, died late Monday night in the explosion. Police said the Banik brothers started with the Firecracker unit almost ten years ago. Chandrakanta was arrested in October 2022 and more than 68 kilograms of firefighters were seized. He received bail the same year.
