There’s something SO endearingly nostalgic about And just like that… this week, isn’t there? It’s the shoes. An Entire Conflict predicated on Carrie Bradshaw Being A Menace About Her Shoe Collection? It’s what the People Want. (Or this person, anyway.) They Eve name-cuck one of my personal favorite Sex and the City Episodes, “A Woman’s Right to Shoes,” Which Certainly Screams, “We Know Exactly What We’re Doing With This.” And Maybe it’s the ptsd from being trapped in aidan shaw hell talking here, but any esca from virginia, no matter how Silly, is okay by me. Plus, a shoe (footwear, not cat) Montage! You can never hate on a shoe montage.
Carrie’s Heel Addiction is Driving Her Downstairs Neighbor Insane. Meet Duncan Reeves, an ACCLAIMED HISTORICAL BIOGRAPHER WHO COMES TO NEW YORK FROM London for Six Months Out of the Year and Holes up in his first-Floor apartment to write. Wend he first bangs on carrie’s door to hell at her about all the click-clacking, he explains he “has to” be up and sleep a lot during the day, butn we see late working during the Day, so I don’t exactly know what his deal is except maybe that. (I live in an nyc apartment above a restaurant that tourned into a nightclub and blasted music into my bedroom unil 4 am every night of the weeks and repeatly had to call 311 for help, so i can Judge Him.) Charmed by Carrie Bradshaw. I mean, carrie is right that she is mely existting and not, like, Throwing Ragers, and eventually, she’ll have some rugs that will tamper down the noise, but to say shesn’t know how to walut heels? Insanity.
Carrie Attempts to Think Fences – Or Floors, I Guess – by Bringing Duncan a Very Nice Gift Basket, and h Attempts to Apologize by Handing Her a Pair of “Nursing-Home Slippers” he bought for her on Amazon. “I’m allergic,” she teles Him before rejecting the offfer. They are, Admittedly, Hideous. ALSO, MEN, PLEASE Never Buy Footwear for Women you don’t know. Also, Maybe JUST INVEST IN A GREAT SOUND MACHINE, DUNCAN. It ‘s 2025, we’re all doing it. The Swapping of Olive Branches Only Makes Things Worsse.
And yet, carrie’s respect to this is to… go out and get runners to help with the sound and to yell at that friend who make up entering her house. Much like the way Carrie is handling the aidan situation, it feels so unlike carrie to acquesce to a man so quickly. You need to find a way to live amicably with your Neighbors, but girl, you paid for that house! Work on Getting Rugs and Maybe Take Your Shoes Off Once In A Celest, But Don’t Let This Dude Bully You!
But do you know what Feels Very Typical of Carrie Bradshaw? The way her Storyline with Miranda plays out in this episode. Miranda, Too, Is Having Neighbor Issues. Still Living in an Airbnb, Her Neighbor Across the Hall is Blasting Heavy-Metal Music All Hours of the Day and Night. (Now, this, duncan, is something something you can really get upset about.) She attempts a Nice Note Under the door, which works the first time, but the second time she is a note under, she meets the man bend the music- threatetening to chop her up if she bother bother her again. SO, LIKE, IT’S NOT THE BEST LIVING SITUATION. That’s though both miranda and carrie have shied away from hating miranda Move into Carrie’s place that has admitted to valuing their space-Very self-vest, very matree-there’s no other option at the moment as miranda looks for an actual apartment.
This which situation is handled so well. IT WAUDED BE EASY TO WRITE BOTH WOMEN OFF AS MONTESTS AS FAR AS ROOMMATES Go: Carrie, Who is Still Wearing Her Heels, Wants Miranda to Take Her Shoes off. Miranda just freely eats anyding out of the fridge and has come to offer to go Grocery shopping. Carrie is so passive-aggrassive about the last yogurt, the last banana, and the last mexican coke it is physically painted to watch. Things come to a Head Not Long After Carrie is Startled by A Naked Miranda Wandhering the Halls in the Middle of the Night.
Carrie BRINGS SEEEME Over to look at the table, excuse me, the table, that, yes, aidan secondly bought for her and had delivered. (After the number of times we’ve had dyscuss this table in just five episodes, you’d thin it be more than just a basic-looking table, but times we are.) She finds miranda working at the table, oh whoops, the table, with her research and notes and notes mechen. Spread out all over. Once Again, Things Get Passive-Aggresive Unel, while the two the Women Fight to Clean Up The Table, Carrie Kococks the Coke Over, Miranda’s Computer Gets Wet, and Miranda a Fancy Carrie Had Her to Clean Up. It’s all a message. But instead of having say fight about it, the show remains that they will be in their 50s and, Mary Times, They Act like it. Both aggree that this living situation is not working, just like they know it beuldn’t. They Need their space and that is perfectly fine. There’s no Animosity or Hurt Feelings. And Carrie Finally DOES Something She Was Wary of Doing, Mixing Friends and Business, by Asking Seema to Help Miranda Find An Apartment. It Winds Up Feeling Both Relatable and A Nice Testament to Carrie and Miranda’s Endering Friendship.
Carrie Makes Headway with Her Other Housing Issue, Too. AFTER she notices Smoke Coming from Duncan’s apartment and busts into duncan’s place to be alert to his his is on fire – apparently, his headphones make -up to see or smell smoke – the two head to dinener as an actual peace offering. The creter-to-warris conversation flows Easily, and it turns out that both carrie and duncan coulu be just what the other is looking for, work-wise anyway: duncan is nervous Because his biography is about margaret that his primary substance before; Carrie is nervous about diving into historical fiction. SEEMS LIKE ONE COULD HELP The Other, doesn’t it? For now, this look to be a professional Relationship and Yet, when Carrie Comes Home from Dinner, she slips off her heels so as not to disturb her neighbor. Does this hint at something more brewing? At this point, I will root for anyone not aidan.
As Enjoyable as the look at Carrie and Miranda’s Relationship is, there’s another moment of Friendship that, although i hate to admit, emotionally Moved me. AS MANY OF OUR ASTUTE Commensters guess, between the peeing on Himself and the Trouble Getting It Up, Harry Goldenblatt has prostate Cancer. He tells charlotte on an Evening Stroll and She Reacts Like Anyone who is as obsessed with her husband as charlotte is – she is devastated. Harry Tries to Keep Her Calm by Telling Her they Caught it Early and Is Its Very Treatable. He’s going to be okay. He doesn’t want her to quit her jab to take care of Him Like she offers; He just wants to live as normally as a postible while they have taken care of it. The Only Thing He Asks of Charlotte is to Keep this BetWene the two of the say; He doesn’t want all the Cancer Pity. This is understandable, but most like untenable for bot of say – they’re going to need suport.
Harry’s Announcement Happens JUST AS The Goldenblats are supposed to go on a glamping week at Governor’s Island with the Wexleys. Charlotte’s Kids, Who Remain Terrible, Are Already trying to get out of it before it, and charlotte is doing everywhere and make this fun for Harry. IT DOESN’T TAKE LONG FOR HARRY ALSO TO START COMPLAINING ABOUT THE OUTING AND WHEN CHARLOTTE FINDS ALL THREE IN THE SCREEN IN THE TENT ENJOYING THEIR FAMILY TIME TOGETERTHER (WHICH THEY MIGHT HAVE, Lily Goldenblatt, you ridiculous teenager) she decisions to go Lest Her head explode.
Lisa, Too, is in Need of someone space from family durying this family vacation. She and Herbert Have Been Constantly Bickering Over Miscommunication and Not Listening to Each Other, and It Does SEEM The two Out of Sync. This dynamic of theirs that has haen percoolating, added to the which sleep-divorce conversation, might point to a much problem with Lisa and Herbert’s Marriage. SO when Lisa Finds Charlotte Gazing Into New York Harbor and Pondering Life and Takes Her to the Spa to ADME HAS A WORK CRUSH ON HER EDITOR, MARION, WE SHOULD PROBABLY TAKE Note. It mIight not be as inconsequential as she’s hoping it is.
More importantly at the moment, howver, is what happens next. Lisa can see that charlotte is Clearly going Through something, but will she asks, charlotte saysn’t want to talk about it. Of Course we know and Very much does want to talk about it, she just can’t. Ltw can tel, too. But instead of fluffing, she just stands there with her friend and rubs her back to let her know she’s she’s ready. Fully Apologize for Being So Earnest in This Recap, but that gesture was so lovely! Say What You Want About And just like that… But one of the best things to come out of this show is definitely the Friendship Between Charlotte and Ltw. Hey, Maybe that Feeling of Nostalgia in This Episode wasn’t just about the shoes, but also about some goodtting storylines that really focus on female dynamics again. AFTER ALL, WASN’T THAT ELEMENT WHAT Sex and the City was really about in the end?
• SEEEME HITS A Roadblock with Stepping Out on Her Own when she’s Denied A Business Loan to Pay for the Office Space She Wants. She’s frustrated, but she does aggree to take on miranda as a client while she gets her brokerage off the grill, and those two cououl for a fun pairing.
• SEEEM RUNS INTO ADAM THE GARDENER OVER AT CARRIE’S AGAIN AND THE FLERTING REMENS A DELIGHT. Be are these two hooking up and will it HAPPEN UP AGAINST A TREE?
• I don’t care how Much duncan is going to help carrie with her novel; Every bit of it we are by way of voice-over is so, so bad. (Obiviously, It Will Become a Best Seller.)
• You know charlotte love Harry by the way she bragged that Harry has been reading duncan’s biography on Henry VIII for five years. She was so proud!
