Why are 4 out of 14 deserts of the world, why is the Thar desert at the forefront? Know the reason for that
Four of the 14 deserts of the world turn green. The Thar Desert is at the top of the Thar desert between India and Pakistan. The desert of Arabia is second. This was revealed in a research by IIT Gandhinagar. Rainfall also increases in the Eastern Gobi Desert in Negev and China-Mangolia, Israel, while Namibia in Africa is the only desert where the amount of rain has decreased. In the remaining 9 deserts, there was no change in the rain pattern even after years. These include Mojave of North America, Sonoran, Chihuahuan, Atakama of South America, Kalahari of Africa, the world’s largest desert, Iran’s there-e-Cavir, China’s Takalamakan and Great Sandy of Australia. The research was done by Professor Vimal Mishra of the Department of Civil Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and PhD Scholar Hiren as Kanki and Ramkrishnan Nemani of the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute, related to NASA in California, USA. There was a change in the Thar Desert, from 2001 to 2023, the annual green increased by 38 percent. During this period there was a 64 percent increase in rainfall. From 1985 to 2020, urbanization in Thar increased by 50 to 800 percent, agriculture increased by 300 percent. From the year 1980 to 2015, there was a 74 percent increase in the agricultural sector in Thar and 24 percent in the irrigation sector. Share this story -Tags
