US State Dept. employee accused of leaking classified documents to China: Report

An employee of the US State Department has been accused of allegedly removing classified documents from safe places and returning with Chinese officials to 2023, Fox News reports. According to the report, the accused – Ashley Tellis – started working for the State Department in 2001, the court documents say. According to an affidavit, he is accused of having illegal retention of national defense information. Who is Ashley Tellis? Ashley Tellis is also a contractor at the Office or Net Assessment at the Department of Defense, now Department of War. He is also considered a scholar on India and South Asian matter. According to court documents obtained by Fox News, federal prosecutors said the US State Department’s employee had access to sensitive information and held a top secret clearance.
