President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday stating that the US would consider “any armed attack” on the Qatari area as a threat to Washington. “In light of the ongoing threats to the state Qatar set by foreign aggression, it is the policy of the United States to guarantee the security and territorial integrity of the state Qatar against external attack,” the order states. The order adds that in the event of an attack, the United States will take all legal and appropriate measures – including diplomatic, economic and, if necessary, military – to defend the interests of the United States and the State Qatar and to restore peace and stability. ” Israeli strikes spark diplomatic tension The promise comes after an Israeli strike on September 9, which targets Hamas officials who discussed an American peace proposal for the Gaza war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday called the Prime Minister of Qatar from the White House and apologized for the strikes and promised that such attacks would not happen again. According to the White House, Netanyahu was challenging about the strikes on September 9 until his meeting with President Trump in Washington. Qatar’s strategic importance for the US Qatar offers the largest US military base in the Gulf at Al-News, which also serves as a regional headquarters for elements of the US central order. Qatar is an important American ally in the Gulf, and the executive order reinforces Washington’s commitment to protect the country’s territorial integrity amid regional tension.
