Dehradun, October 6 (IANS). The Madrasa Council in Uttarakhand is now going to be history. Governor Lieutenant -General Gurmeet Singh (Sene.) Approved the Uttarakhand Minority Education Bill, 2025. After the implementation of this bill, all the Madrasas operated in the state will have to recognize the Uttarakhand Minority Education Authority and with the Uttarakhand) have to go. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami mentioned this decision as historical, saying that this step will result in revolutionary changes in the field of education in Uttarakhand. He said: “Our goal is that every child in the state, whether it comes from any class or community, is moving forward with equal education and opportunities.” He informed that education from the July 2026 academic session will be offered in all minority schools under the National Course and New Education Policy. Not only will it increase the level of education, but it will also give students the opportunity to join the mainstream. In terms of this bill, Madrasas will now have to register under the Uttarakhand Council, and it would be mandatory to include subjects such as science, mathematics, social science in their curriculum. The emphasis will also be on modern technical education and vocational training. This step will help strengthen the students of the minority community for a better future. Uttarakhand became the first state in the country with this decision, where the Madrasa Council will be abolished and minority education institutions will be linked to the mainstream education system. In such a situation, this step will play an important role in making uniformity in education and promoting social inclusion. However, some organizations have also expressed concern about this decision. He says that special provisions must be made to maintain the cultural and religious identity of Madrasas.
