Uttarakhand: Strict action on the fall of the bridge under construction in Chamoli, suspended three engineers

Chamoli, June 5 (IANS). The government took a difficult stance on the sudden fall of the bridge under construction on the Dungi Ratgaon highway under Tharali development block of the Chamoli district Uttarakhand. The 60 -meter team -module, built on the Pranmati River at a cost of Rs 2 Crore 60 Lakh, suddenly broke on June 4. After the incident, the state government suspended three engineers and a fir was registered against the contractor. On instructions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Pankaj Pandey, secretary of the Department of Public Works, acted immediately and issued an order to suspend three officers. The suspended officers include executive engineer Dinesh Mohan Gupta of Tharali Nirman Block, provincial block, executive engineer Naveen Lal Verma, executive engineer of the Public Works Department of Karnprayag and Assistant Engineer Akash Hoodia. Prima facie, all are held responsible for this incident. In addition, a criminal case is also registered against the contractor related to the construction of the bridge over the instructions of the Chamoli district of Sandeep Tiwari. ‘Show cause of notice’ was also issued to the relevant authorities. In this entire development, the rapid and strict action of the state government has made it clear that any form of negligence or quality in construction work will no longer be tolerated.
