Vinayak Chaturthi: Wishes will be fulfilled by worshiping Lord Ganesha
New Delhi, October 24 (IANS). Vinayaka Chaturthi is on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, which this time falls on Saturday. Special worship of Gajanan has significance on this day. In the Puranas, special importance is given to worshiping twice on this day, once in the afternoon and second at midnight. It is believed that by fasting on Vinayak Chaturthi, all the works of the person are accomplished and the wishes are fulfilled. By worshiping Lord Ganesha on Vinayak Chaturthi, all the sorrows and problems of life go away. Fasting and worshiping on this day brings happiness, prosperity, financial prosperity, knowledge and wisdom. Ganpati Bappa fulfills all the wishes of his devotees and removes the obstacles in their lives. If this fast is observed according to the rituals, every wish of the person is fulfilled. A mythological story is very popular on Vinayak Chaturthi, in which it is said that Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva once played Chaupar together. During the match, it could not be decided who would decide the victory or defeat. Mother Parvati made a child out of grass and gave birth to it. Parvati ji was the winner thrice in the match but the boy mistakenly declared Shiv ji as the winner. Mother Parvati, angry at this, cursed the child to live in mud. When the child apologized, the mother said that snake girls would come after one year, according to their advice, and observing fast on Vinayak Chaturthi would remove the problems. After a year snake girls came to that place and told the boy the method of fasting for Shri Ganpati. After knowing the method, the child worshiped Ganapati and fasted for 21 consecutive days according to the rituals. Gajanan was happy to see the child’s dedication. He asked the child to get the desired results, to which the child expressed his wish to be cured and asked to be taken to Mount Kailash. Shri Ganesh disappeared after giving a boon to the child. After this the boy reached Mount Kailash and narrated his story to Lord Shiva. The mother was angry with Lord Shiva since the day of Chaupar, finally when the goddess became angry, Lord Shiva also fasted Shri Ganesha for 21 days as per the instructions of the child. Due to the effect of this fast, the grudge that Mother Parvati had towards Lord Shiva ended. Bholenath narrated the method of fasting to Mother Parvati. When mother Parvati heard this, she also had a desire to meet her son Kartikeya. Mother Parvati also fasted on Lord Ganesha for 21 days and worshiped Lord Ganesha with Durva, flowers and laddus. On the 21st day of the fast, Kartikeya herself met Mother Parvati. –IANS NS/ABM Share this story Tags
