Violence during Durga Puja submitting in Cuttack, six injured, including DCP

Cuttack, October 4 (IANS). There was a violent clash between two groups during the Durga Puja Idol immersion in Dargah Bazar in Cuttack in Odisha, which caused tension in the city. At least six people, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rishikesh Khiri, were injured in this incident. DCP’s eye injury is also reported in this incident. The incident started around 2pm on Friday night, when the march of Jhanjirimangala Bhagwat Puja Committee to Debigada was for immersion. Local people objected to rapid music in the march, after which the debate between the two sides began. The controversy became violent to see it. Stoning and glass bottles began to attack near the Dargah Bazar jail punishment, causing the area to be disturbed about three hours. Many vehicles are damaged in stone and attack. Police -Lathi charged with controlling the crowd, but the violence broke out again when the march reached the statue in Rausapatna. During this time, some people involved in the march began picking and stopping the immersion process. About 50 idols remained here for immersion due to stress, causing the situation to become more complicated. Police have deployed additional power to control the situation and try to complete the immersion process smoothly. The local administration has taken difficult measures to maintain peace and security has been increased in the areas concerned. This incident created an atmosphere of tension in the city. Police are investigating the matter and people are requested to maintain peace. The administration says that the situation is now under control.
