Viral: Elderly distribute Python snake to prevent motorists from breaking through sidewalks in East Jakarta

Jakarta – A resident in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, put a python on the sidewalk that went viral on social media. The man named Subari (75) admitted that he deliberately put his pet snake on the pavement to prevent motorbikes from crossing the pedestrian lane. Subari admitted he was annoyed with motorbikes that often used the pavement to avoid road congestion. He admitted he felt sorry for pedestrians who had to fight for space with motorbikes breaking through the pavements. “It’s difficult for pedestrians when motorbikes pass overhead. So I took the initiative, I took my hose out on the pavement,” Subari told 20detik on Friday (17/10/2025). Since he was making it difficult for pedestrians, I let him out,” he said. Subari said the snake he kept was 13 years old. He admitted that he found the python on the side of the toll road not far from his home in Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta. “Initially I got it off the side of the toll road and looked after it until it was 13 years old. It was tame, to be kept, someone wanted it but didn’t give it to them, it was a pet,” he said.
