(AFP) The funeral of conservative activist Charlie Kirk will set up a high profile list of participants, with the first Lady Melania Trump expected to appear with her husband, President Donald Trump, in the memorial service in Arizona. The event, entitled “Building a Legacy, Che Stemping Charlie Kirk”, will be held on Sunday, September 21 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, home to the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. The arrangements were confirmed by Turning Point USA, the organization Kirk, founded, which invited members of the public to participate in their respect. High-profile participants who are expected among those confirmed or attend are the widow of Charlie and Turning Point USA chairman Erika Kirk, businessman Elon Musk, Senator JD Vance, political commentator Tulsi Gabbard and conservative figure Mikey McCoy. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Franz Turek, friend of Charlie Kirk standing 25 feet from him when he was shot. Other people also include American singer and songwriter Kari Jobe Carnes, her husband and singer-songwriter Cody Carnes, and former commentator on Fox News, Tucker Carlson. President Trump is scheduled to make comments, while questions about whether First Lady Melania Trump will also make a public appearance during the event. Musk shared a video of the packed arena on X: “Every seat in this giant arena that is not taken for security is packed to the ceiling. Honor to be here. Everything for Charlie Kirk (sic).” Christian artists lead worship at the memorial service Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Cody Carnes and Kari Jobe Carnes, it is confirmed that they will perform on the event, according to the organizers’ website. Country singer Lee Greenwood, best known for ‘God Bless the USA’, and recording artist Steve Amerson, will join them. The memorial has drawn thousands of participants, with worship and music forming a central part of the program in remembrance of Kirk’s life and work.
