Police officer's stray bullet kills man in Lagos during anti-robbery

Tragedy hit Ketu, Lagos, where a 32-year-old man, Zeyanu Muhammad, lost his life after being hit by a stray bullet during a police operation. According to a police source, the incident happened at about 3:50 pm on Thursday, when a tactical team of the ‘H’ assignment, Ogudu, led by Asp Friday BABEV, moved to the area to arrest suspected robbers. The team experienced resistance to hoods in the area that allegedly intervened and facilitated the escape of the robbery suspects. In the subsequent fracas, a gun shot was fired, and a stray bullet hit the victim in the shoulder, leading to his death on the spot. Police said the body was evacuated and deposited at a public autopsy for autopsy. In response, patrol vehicles were deployed to the scene to maintain order, while members of the tactical team involved in the operation were arrested pending further investigation. Attempts are underway to engage the deceased’s family and the Hausa community in the area to prevent the escalation of the incident.
