Wayanad landslide: Priyanka Gandhi asked for Rs 2.221 crore to help the involved

The leader of Congress and LP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra protested against the reduced relief of the Central Government for the landslide of 2024 in the Wayanad district of Kerala. He talked about this issue of rising above politics and seeing from the point of view of humanity. Priyanka Gandhi wrote in her official ‘X’ post that the people of Wayanad lost their homes, the way to live and their loved ones in landslides. To overcome this tragedy, the Kerala government sought help of R 2.221 crore to resume the lives of the people involved, but the central government approved only 260 crore calls, which is a very small part of the amount claimed. He said that the people of Wayanad expected help after the prime minister came here, but that he felt disappointed. Priyanka Gandhi also made it clear that relief and rehabilitation should be above politics. Human suffering should not be seen as a political opportunity. Priyanka further said that the people of Wayanad are entitled to justice, support and respect. In a time when they try to rewrite their lives, they must receive full support and not neglect. The landslide in Wayanad, Kerala, has completely changed the lives of thousands of people. The houses were destroyed, the farm was affected and many people were killed. This disaster made the condition of the local public extremely pathetic. The congress says that the amount of Rs 260 crore approved by the central government is not sufficient for Wayanad. Priyanka Gandhi demanded the central government to reconsider the matter and approve the proper relief amount. He said that humanity should win in the time of such crisis and not politics.
